Growing turf and managing disease are skills that go hand in hand, but often, disease management is shrouded by guesswork and uncertainty – bad news for healthy and efficient turf production.
Ace Ohlsson and Turfcare have seen the need for a better approach to disease management and we are intent on connecting the turf grower to reliable disease analysis services.
There’s no doubt that healthy turf has its enemies, but the multitude of turf diseases, such as Brown Patch, Fairy Ring, Dollar Spot, Curvularia, Pithium, Helminthosporium and Fusarium, just to name a few, are the most common and problematic. Treating these diseases through guesswork is far from a simple and efficient process, undoubtedly resulting in a great deal of wasted time and money.
Ace Ohlsson and Turfcare have commissioned a custom-built laboratory for this very purpose: to combat the overwhelming disadvantages of inferior disease analysis and treatment. Located at Ace Ohlsson, 115 Pitt Town Rd, McGrath’s Hill, this lab is the Hawkesbury turf grower’s disease management hub. Consulting Agronomist, Albie Leggett (M. Agr) uses state of the art technology and informative resources to identify diseases and provide targeted product recommendations from a full range of fertilisers, insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides.
Specialist Turf Sales Representative, Hardin Smith, 0418 373 007, hardin.smith@aceohlsson.com.au is the point of contact between growers and laboratory services, coordinating sample collection, communication of results and long-term management plans.
The team at Ace Ohlsson is dedicated to delivering the correct product at competitive rates, often with next-day results for turf testing. This is another integral part of our long-term commitment and investment into the turf industry.
With the demand for quality turf remaining a central part of this country’s infrastructure, the goal of reliable turf care is to take away the stress of disease for the turf grower, especially with the increasing prevalence of diseases coming out of the wet summer. This new lab does exactly that, all the while saving you valuable time and money.

Silver Sponsor Simpson Fuel Supplies
Our roots in fuel supply can be traced as far back as 1963 when Jack Simpson and his son Neville opened a mechanical repair and panel beating business in Wentworthville on the Great Western Highway. The workshop was part of a service station known as Star Auto Centre.
As a tribute and legacy to Jack Simpson who sadly passed away in 1979, our business name of Jack Simpson Fuel Supplies Pty Ltd has remained unchanged. The operation remains in the capable hands of Jack’s son Neville and grandson Jason who have continued to build upon those strong foundations that were laid in the early 1960s.
When we purchased the fuel depot at Oakville on October 27th, 1983, the monthly turnover of the operation was 600,000 litres. Since then, we have expanded into depots at Werrington and Mittagong.
